Stamp out violation of human rights
ONE of the greatest achievements of this century has
been the awareness by the international community of the role of human rights as the foundation for progress, development,
democracy and prosperity. I believe Papua New Guinea share the concerns of the international community to protect and
supervise fundamental rights of its citizens. The Government should take this opportunity to provide our people with the
necessary capacity to fully discharge its mandate in the field of human rights. At the dawn of the 29th year of independence,
violation of human rights remain among the main challenges to civilization; they are a threat to peace, security and sustained
development of our nation Papua New Guinea. Let me add as the voice of young people today. We must, and I repeat, we must
be constantly aware of our duties for the common good. I believe this will help build a solid foundation for unity, economic,
environmental, intellectual and social well being of our people to the enjoyment of a democratic way of life. I believe
the real challenge for our government today is to strengthen the binding nature of this existing system of norms. I now
call upon business community, Government and Papua New Guineans to work together to bring about the social and economic development
necessary to further the well being of all our people. Infrastructure development and renewal is one area in which greater
cooperation could exist to ensure that these issues must be addressed more effectively. I wish to take this moment to
recognise our political leaders roles as a powerful force of progress in actively participating for many years to modernise
and reshape our country.

Government and Youth Engagement in the Pacific.
Pacific Leaders gathered in Papua
New Guinea just recently to discuss initiatives that their Governments must take to ensure that the effectiveness of its services
is distributed to the vast majority of its rural populace in transparent and accountable way.
Pacific Island Countries
like many other developing countries faces a lot of problems related to social welfare. Youth issue is one of the most important
and talked about on the high level of decision making. But the outcome has never met the need of social break down among youth
populace.
Not an issue was raised to help the problematic nature of Youth problems faced largely within the Pacific
community. Papua New Guinea where youth population makes half the Population is badly affected with ever increasing crime
mostly committed by youths.
The Pacific Leaders attending the Pacific Island Forum in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
left unsatisfied due to Australia and New Zealand?uctant to approve seasonal labor in both countries.
We still don
not know the reason behind both Howard and Clark?d. Mr. Howard proposed for a Technical Institution for Pacific; which sounds
great. But within minds of many leaders of the Pacific that does not satisfy their desire to send down labors to Australia
and New Zealand. Why? Papua New Guinea?me Minister Say? will be opportunity for young people in the pacific to experience
and learn news thing while working abroad.
Well that?t they say. But asking young people around Papua New Guinea,
you find a different view. Young people want better government services. They want protections of Police Brutality.
They
want better education, health services provided to their discretion. One thing we Pacific youths need to do is that we need
to network together and work towards archiving betterment of the social environment we live in.
There are a lot of
initiatives in place already to help enhance, train, empower young people in the Pacific. Most Pacific Island nations are
members to both United Nations and Commonwealth community. But our governments fail to carry out their mandate in recognized
that opportunity in ratifying most legislation and policy related to the youth development. United Nations Youth Delegate
to General Assembly every year is on existence in most countries of the Pacific yet their Governments send Ambassador to United
Nations in New York
Not only do we have that but UN has another policy that member states are required to implement
the UN compulsory Education. This is to ensure that there is free education in certain level. (Prep to Grade 6) this program
is helping reduce the number of illiteracy in most parts of the World. But if our Governments fail to address our issues,
we must not let that hinder our progress in life in resorting to crime or other activities that is unlawful.
So Pacific
youth never give up with running will get there. |

Busy Schedules that Cost
She tells me, I'm sorry I can’t make it. He tells me I'm sorry I’m too busy. They tell me, we can’t we
are very busy. I tell myself I can’t because I’m too worried. But what about my life. I need her, I need him,
I need them and I need myself, we all need each other. I still desire her presence, his presence and time their love and support
and my courage to stand alone. I hope she understands. He seems to ignore me, they seem to lose interest. I seem to lack
strength. She cries for not making it. He dies in ignorance they watch in sadness while I triumph with dignity and joy
of working alone making my life an Exclamation.
